[News] Rhodora Palomar Fresnedi wins SENIA Advocacy Award 2017

Ms. Rhodora Palomar Fresnedi of the Philippines is the SENIA Advocacy Award winner for 2017.

The SENIA Advocacy Award celebrates the achievements of a student, adult or group who encourages awareness and advocates for the aspirations of people with disabilities. The award honors those who exemplify the vision mission of SENIA, which is to advocate in behalf of exceptional people in Asia.

Ms. Rhodora Palomar Fresnedi is the Executive Director of Unilab Foundation and is the prime mover of Project Inclusion. Unilab Foundation believes that a healthier Philippines is an inclusive Philippines and through “Project Inclusion”, the foundation enables wider employment of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) with special emphasis on Persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (PWIDs).

In the past 3 1/2 years, Project Inclusion worked towards establishing relationships with families of PWIDs, schools, government and private institutions towards achieving the goal of an inclusive Philippines. Project Inclusion also completed data-driven research on the benefits of hiring PWDs entitled “From Exceptionality to Exceptional: Inclusion of Differently Abled Persons in the Workplace. Aside from this, Project Inclusion produced a Human Resources Handbook to guide HR practitioners on the procedures and tools for hiring and understanding PWIDs. This year, 2016, is a huge milestone for Project Inclusion as it launches it’s job matching website for PWDs and PWIDs. The website, DaretoHireMeNow, is an accessible website that allows PWDs and PWIDs to post their personal application highlighting their skills and abilities with the goal of matching them with available jobs. As shared by Catherine Cham who nominated Ms. Rhodora Fresnedi, “Project Inclusion definitely made a BIG IMPACT in our community for helping PWDs, fulfilling their dreams to work and earn for themselves.” The work of Unilab Foundation and Project Inclusion is inspiring and yet challenging. Ms. Rhodora Palomar Fresnedi, along with her Project Inclusion team, continuously work towards enabling sustainability and independence for PWDs and PWIDs. Through the incredible work of Project Inclusion under the Unilab Foundation, this initiative has the potential to help not 1, 10, 100, 1,000 but 1,000,000 PWIDs!”
