SENIA extends award nominations deadline

The Special Education Network in Asia (SENIA), a network of educators, professionals and parents across Asia dedicated to supporting children with special learning needs, has extended the deadline for its search for the next SENIA Student Award and Advocate award winners. From an original deadline of November 1, the new deadline is now November 8, 2013.

The SENIA Student Award honors a student with a disability who excels. It celebrates the achievements of a child or youth with disabilities; encourages awareness of the abilities and aspirations of children/youth with disabilities; and advocates in behalf of exceptional children in Asia. Previous winners include Ms. Andrea Ysabel Zubiri (2012) of Brent International School and De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde and Ms. Samantha Johnson (2013) of the International School Manila. This year also marks the first time SENIA will issue its Advocacy Award. This award aims to honor adult(s) or student(s) who advocate for people with special needs in their community within the Asian region. The winner of the SENIA Advocacy Award will receive a trophy, accommodations and flights to attend the SENIA 2014 Singapore Conference in Singapore on February 28 to March 1, 2014.
