[Extended] Nominations open for SENIA Awards 2016

SENIA Advocacy Award Social Media CreativeThe Special Education Network in Asia (SENIA), a network of educators, professionals and parents across Asia dedicated to supporting children with special learning needs is looking for the next SENIA Award winners.

With more than 10 years of advocacy for special education, SENIA is awarding the SENIA Advocacy Award and SENIA Student Award. SENIA has chapters in China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan and the Philippines.

The SENIA Awards aims to honor students, persons and/or entities who advocate for people with special needs in their community within the Asian region. The winners of the SENIA Awards receive a plaque, two nights’ accommodations and flights to attend the annual SENIA Conference which will be held at the International School Kuala IG_Nom_StudentLumpur Melawati Campus on February 26 to 27, 2016. The winner may bring a chaperone if needed.

Nominations may be made by teachers, principals, service providers, friends and parents. SENIA is also open to self-nominations. For more information about the SENIA Awards, please visit the SENIA website at http://senia.asia. The deadline for nominations is on December 1, 2015.

 

[Conference] SENIA 2016 Now Open for Registration!

The 13th annual SENIA 2016 Conference will be held in the International School of Kuala Lumpur Melawati Campus. The pre-conference will take place on Thursday, 25 February, with the conference proper on Friday, 26 February and Saturday, 27 February.
For this year, there will be three strands:
  • Assessment with Diverse Populations
  • Social Emotional Well-Being of Students
  • Executive Functioning
Keynote speakers have been prepared for the three main strands. Dr. Samuel Ortiz will be the keynote speaker for assessment with diverse populations. Julia Cook will be speaking about social emotional well-being of students and  Dr. Peg Dawson is our keynote speaker for executive functioning strand.
